Oooooooohhhh. I wince in combination shared pain and sympathy! I've never done anything like that - but it just doesn't look good.
Were you doing anything special? Athletic like? When I get my injuries (except for the past few basketball induced ones), I'm usually doing something very much non-athletic. It's pretty sad...
Best wishes for a speedy recovery! Be sure to let the OC know if you need anything! We'll do all we can for you!

Ouch! here's to a speedy recovery (even though I know it isn't that speedy for that to heal).

Oh my poor dear Caro! I hope you are feeling much better soon!
(If I were more local, I would definitely sign your cast.)

OUCH! Sending speedy healing vibes from afar. If you're at all open to alternative medicine, I would suggest acupuncture - it helped tremendously the SECOND time I broke my foot...

I was wondering about the foot comment you made in my post...
Man, that sucks. Big time! And it's your driving foot, no less!!!
(oh, wait...do you guys drive with your left foot to match the left lane-left driver's side thing? And is that a totally stupid question, or what?!)
Stay chillaxin', sista!

Thanks for the good wishes everyone.
Scott - No I wasn't doing anything even vaguely athletic - I slipped on the kitchen floor! The original injury 18 months ago happened when I tripped over my trousers and fell off a curb, and the second one happened just walking up stairs. At least I can console myself that I wasn't doing something stupid when I got injured.
Art-Sweet - I'm trained in acupuncture, although only really for dentistry, but I've been self administering for pain!
Tiffany - I've only ever driven manual (we're quaint here in England) so you need both feet! Luckily I don't drive anyway right now. And being in plaster is a sure fire way to get a seat on the tube!
I saw the radiologist this morning for an ultrasound. After putting up with his umming and ahhing for several minutes, I just came right out and said "Is it in one piece?"
"I'm sorry" was all he said.
I won't repeat my reply.
I was hanging on to the tiny hope that it wouldn't be ruptured after all, but apparently there is a 3cm gap. I'm seeing the surgeon first thing tomorrow, and it is likely I'll be scheduled for surgery on Thursday.
I had a five minute pity party, and a good cry, while they re-plastered my leg.
But since then I've felt strangely calm.

Oh, I'm so sorry. I hope it's not too painfull.
Posted by: Penny | 17 May 2006 00:58:13
Oh, ouch! That looks incredibly painful and sound suspiciously like something I'd do, too. I'm a notorious klutz.
Here's hoping your surgery goes well!
If we all chip in and send you a marker, you can sign the cast from all of the OC. :D

You poor thing, hope the surgery goes well, the painkillers work and you're hobbling around again soon.
Posted by: Jane | 17 May 2006 20:57:00
The surgery is now scheduled for June 1st. A reprieve of sorts, but in many ways I'd rather just get it over with!
Posted by: Caro | 17 May 2006 23:03:26
Oh, Caro, that sucks! I hope your heel heals quickly. Hang in there until the surgery.

When I had to have a cast I had a pretty purple one. I didn't want white cuz I knew people would want to write all over it.
How long you got it on for?
